blackie charge
Posted by Magnum Man on Mar 28 2006
2 years ago a friend and I were moose huntin the ridges about 15 miles off the american summit and there was a blackie outside our tent when we got up a little before daylight. it was about 30yrds off but we kept an eye on it and it paid us no mind either. half hour later i was looking down the rivine below  our tent and another blackie busted out of the brush at prob 25yrds. I called his bluff and it stopped at about ten yards. he was at the one more step line. I had prob 5 sec to make the call. he did a big circle around us then whent down the rivine were he came from.  About 1 min. later it did the same thing again and bluff charged again. Im sure if I had ran it would have chased. a few minutes later both bears ran off down the hill and never saw em again. I always thought that if a bear ever charged me i would not hesitate and shoot. But I had 450 marlin And my buddy had 340 wby. i was confident we had the situation under control. but after that expierience I know my boundries. And I think if it was a browny though things would have been a little different.n Prob would have shot. Just a side note we packed our camp and hiked 200yds uphill to our atvs and both our seats were chewed up lol. we whent bear hunting the rest of the day but didnt seee them again.
