If you plan on hunting from a boat, make sure to take a gun-boat type gun case over your padded case. These are the ones that are made out of dry bag type material and will keep both your case and your rifle protected from the salt water spray. Many people get their guns/cases wet with salt spray on the way to and from the beach on the coast.
