[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] Weatherby Posted by Alaskacanoe on Mar 29 2006 Some years ago I had a couple of guys from AZ hunting with me on a Bristol bay trip. they had silicon socks to protect the guns from salt etc. These soon were noting more than sponges and within a couple of days the stainless steel weatherby rifles showed dark spots of nature doing its job... I had a great laugh when they suggested they were going to take the guns back to Weatherby and put them where the sun don't shine.. that trip it rained everyday and when it didn't rain it misted.... I told them not to worry to much about it. My guns clean up nice when I get to a dry place with WD-40 or similar, and remember they are tools. I enjoy my trips so much more when I am not fussing about a water spot or two. I don't allow huge gun cases on my trips. Space is a premium and I don't want to use it up on huge gun cases. i also use Kroil (the oil the creeps). Previous: Rust TomM Mar 29 2006 Next: Gun Case AKJOB Mar 29 2006 Message Thread:
