Adak
Posted by Adak Jeff on Apr 01 2006
Well Mike, I wish I could say this has not happened before, but it has to some extent.  I moved from Adak to Bethel last September after living there since 1997, and I could tell you some stories.  However, I do think that this happens in other places as well, it just isn't something that comes to our attention very often.

I guess that no matter how much we like to think that others are as respectful as we are there will always be the exception to the rule.  Does this make it right? Hell no, but the bottom line is we cannot answer or account for every sportsman out there and unfortunately there will always be someone who embarrasses us all as a whole.  Too bad that we can't be everywhere all the time, but at some point you have to wonder who we are dealing with.

On a more positive note, I will say from first hand experience that for the few nightmare stories you have heard there are many, many more that truly equate into once in a lifetime, will never forget, the best hunt I ever had experiences.  The important thing to point out here is that the rest of these folks had a great time, behaved properly, made friends on Adak, and will always be welcome back with open arms, homes, vehicles, ect...

... MT, no disrespect here, but this is nothing like a "fenced hunt".  How do you define "fenced" anyway?  Have you ever even looked at a topo of Adak?  It will kick you butt in a heartbeat.  There is nothing easy about hunting on Adak, and that is really what makes it so special.

Mike, by any chance do you know Dan Grahm?

Good hunting all,
AJ
