Good OTC moose bullet
Posted by Ifly2 on Sep 14 2004
I just got done processing my moose and found the bullet jacket (or parts of it) in the grinder.  After closer examination of the neck, I found very small chunks of lead.  The jacket had seperated from the lead in the meat and the lead continued through the bone. The bullet simply disintegrated. I believe it should have held together better as the neck is maybe 6" wide and I only got the top of the spine.  I was using a 30-06 180 gr Rem. Pointed Soft point. Not my choice but it was that or the round soft point.
I'm looking for recommendations of a good Over the Counter bullet that is good for large game and won't come apart.  I know reloading my own will prevent this but I just don't have the time to load, test, load, retest until I find the combo that works.
God help me if I needed that round with a grizz.
Thanks for your comments
