Some of the best shooting factory rifles that I have owned had a single pressure point at the very end of the barrel channel. I suggest that you take some plastic electrical tape and wrap it very tightly around the barrel at the point where it contacts the stock an inch from the end of the stock. This may take a little trial and error. You just want to make contact so that it fits snuggly when the stock screws are tightened. If this increases your accuracy then take the tape off and glass in the tip of the stock. I have also taken scope shims and layed them in the barrel channel and then tightend the stock screws to create a pressure point at the end of the stock. I currently have a custom mauser in 22-250 caliber that acually has an aluminum block glassed into the tip of the heavy laminated stock. The aluminum block has been milled to the exact contour of the barrel and it only contacts the barrel for a half inch. This rifle has had a couple thousand rounds put through it and it still shoots 1/2 in groups when clean. Previous: clean it Pigeon May 09 2006 Message Thread:
