Since the gun has some sentimental value that precludes trading or selling it, you might consider rebarreling it, even though a 2" gun is nothing to be ashamed of.  Also, I've had some difficulties getting extremely good groups with some "premium" bullets.  I've always done best with Sierra Game Kings -- strictly for accuracy.  Also, the hottest loads aren't necessarily the most accurate.  I don't think there will be a noticeable difference with Neck sizing vs full length sizing, but if the barrel IS long throated, you may see some improvement by seating the bullet farther out of the case, but tgo do this correctly, you need to know what your maximum OAL length IS and then back off about .030".  BTW, maximum OAL changes with EACH brand/weight/style of bullet, so you have to check every one.

Good luck.  Let us know how you make out.
