I talked with my cousin who works at Browning's R&D. They barreled an A-Bolt in this caliber and were very un-impressed with the Federal factory loads as far as velocity and accuracy.

There is already A BIG BORE BUILT ON THE .308 CASE.  
The .358 Winchester.  Which is actually a good round and should have been more popular.

Marketing and the constant desire for something new..... go figure...
