I have a 93 440 cougar that my kid rides, and last week it did the same thing, If we let it set it would run great for about 5 to 10 minutes and then I could not get more than 40 mph out of it. It dogged down and just seemed to loose power. I thought it might be the carbs, but it may be electrical. I have no battery either.. I looked it over pretty good and have not found any reason.
