Snorkeling
Posted by Water_Gremlin on Apr 21 2006
Snorkeling a machine is fairly easy to do. I have done two myself from scratch using abs and rubber fittings. Flex hose works well too. Flex hose tends to develope cuts and holes where pvc wont give you as many problems. If theres space and you have the patience pvc or abs is the way to go. Personally, I prefer my snorkels on the front racks so I know where the water is relative to the snorkels.

If you only want to do the belt exhaust I would use flex hose or abs and run it up below the pod, but away from the air intake and the belt intake if space permits. You want cool air to go in both of those.

Some people actually use flex hose and run it up into a cargo box on the back rack.

A good start would be to take off all the nescessary plastic and plan your route. Make a parts list and head down to the hardware store. Dont forget to seal up any seams with a marine silicone.

You could also try and reduce the size of the belt exhaust opening. This might give enough forceful air to prevent water from entering the belt case. But that might reduce air flow, put too much heat on the belt, and shred your belt. Just another idea.
