Juneau is served by daily jet service from the continental United States. Other communities are served by frequent commuter flights. The Alaska marine highway calls at Juneau, Haines, Skagway, Hoonah, and Tenakee Hot Springs. Float planes serve other locations. Haines and Skagway are the only communities directly connected to the North American road system.
Southeast Alaska weather is unpredictable but tends toward wet. The summer months are usually relatively dry by Southeast Alaska standards, but as the summer ends, the fall storms begin. Anglers should be prepared for wet weather. Even overcast days with drizzle can be pleasant. The least favorable fishing days are those with wind and rain.
