[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] Whittier to Valdez Posted by Fish Witch on Mar 16 2006 As I've posted before, the Lethcoe's Cruising Guide to PWS is an indispensable guide to the best anchorages and sights in the Sound for the serious cruiser. The old versions were split into Eastern and Western parts so be sure you get the Eastern coverage for the areas east of Knight including Wells and Cedar Bays (it might be combined by now, mine are 20+ years old!). One of my favorite areas on that side is Cedar Bay. Don't be afraid about going into truly uncharted waters (the blue areas on the chart are just that). The water in Wells and Cedar is generally deep well back into Cedar, and of course, a depth finder and caution is a must. One other area of interest is Cascade Bay off Eaglet Bay. It has one of the most impressive falls in the Sound. Have fun! Previous: Whittier to Valdez and back Doug from Anchorage Mar 14 2006 Next: pws dipnet Mar 15 2006 Message Thread:
