I have been on the same trip that is planned.  Although I did have a 16' inflatable.  I went the same time of year and had a blast.  Didn't have any big water and made it out as far as Port Wells.  I pretty much followed all the advice that has been given here, which is a very good idea. I would do it again.  My only advice would be to make sure you have days in reserve, in case the weather keeps you out longer than planned.  Another thing to keep in mind is that camping on the beach (islands)is tricky.  If you are planning a camp fire...good luck, as dry wood is hard to find.  Use the tides the best you can or you will dragging your raft to the water.  Stay dry and good luck!
