wooldridge problems
Posted by sled on Apr 01 2006
I have a wooldridge jet boat boat with a Ford 351W 4 barrel. With the impellers I have, I should be turning 4500 RPM. I'm only getting 3400 RPMs max. The linkages on the carb hits the stops and both of the secondaries are fully opened. Once the motor gets hot, my RPM drops back to 3200 RPMs for about 5 mins. After about 5 mins at 3200 RPMs, it will jump back up to 3400 RPM. My motor alternates between these 2 different RPMs until I cut my motor off and let it cool. I've cleaned out the gas tanks and installed new fuel filters. Nothing changes. The distributor has been converted to electronic ignition. It has been suggested that my electronic ignition could be going bad.

Any input welcomed. Thanks
