I recently went through a similar decision making process. What it boiled down to for me , was other than moose hunting when would I need that kind of Payload(hauling a wheeler) a sportjon offeres? What do I use it most for?(bear baiting and fishing, mostly small rivers)How much more money?(10-15K). I decided that although it would be cool to launch a wheeler out of the front to go hunting for moose, It just simply wasn't worth the extra money. I went with a 17 Ft G3 Outfitter welded jon with a 90/65 yamaha 4 stroke. Just a hair over 15K. It will get the job done. A guy has to stabilize his seasonal toys that also overwhelm you financially during the seasons that all you can do is stare at them. Thats my take. I would love to have a Sport Jon and looked at them but I am not willing to put that many apples in one basket. Got to have other toys as well.
