If you do decide to go with a 30K+ unit you should take a look at the Jetcraft XS. It is a little better unit than the Sportjon and will do the same job. You might also take a look at the Sea-Ark Predator which is similar to the Sportjon and the XS but is a few bucks cheaper. The boat shop is also working on a Allweld with a Sportjet that should be in the same $$ range as the Predator. If you are wanting to stay in the lower price range for sure then a smaller flat-bottom with a outboard is your machine. Any boat you get for remote hunting areas in Alaska is going to need a jet and a jet is not good for "weedy bass fishing areas on a lake in the lower 48" but a Sportjet will eat as many weeds as any other jet(not many).
