Yes, a Go-Devil can do this and more!

I have an 18' x 48" Lowe with a Go-Devil 35 hp Surface Drive.  In the Tanana, downriver, I can get 30 mph (GPS).  Upriver, I get about 27 mph (GPS).  At these speeds, I burn 2.5 to 3 gph.  All I need is enough water to float the boat.  I can jump logs and beaver dams and run through heavy swamp grass without stopping to shim up the impeller or dig rocks out of the grate.  S-curves are of no concern except for a possible head-on collision with another boat.  I suggest you take a look at a mud motor, any brand.  They're pretty good.
