Johnson motor
Posted by Alaskacanoe on Apr 14 2006
It is a 1986 motor that is the CD part of the Model Number.
for both Johnson and Evinrude they used a code that goes like this
"INTRODUCES" = .................................................
"1234567890". So the C would be an 8 and the D would be a 6. = 86
this code works for engines from 1980 to current.
they usually list horsepower as it is without a code, so I would guess it is a 20 hp and the R, IS a mystery to me, It may  mean Shaft size, or a design feature, or the model run. There are plenty of outfits that can get you a good cowling. i lost a cowling on a highway once and was able to find one in just a couple of hours on the internet under used boat motor parts. Good luck
