weather bouy
Posted by northriver on Apr 17 2006
i too look at the weather bouys along with the marine forcast and the whittier webcam before i leave. last year during bear hunting we were woken up in a freak wind that picked up out of nowhere. we crossed wells passage in 5 footers with some 6's mixed in. eager to see what the weather bouy said when we got back i was surprised to see only three footers registered at the time i was crossing by. so naturally i tend to be wary if the bouy is telling me that there are three and four footers happening in wells passage. i suppose we should all just remember that these tools are to be used as reference only and we still need to practice our own best judgement when we are out having a good time. things can change in a hurry. be safe out there.
