I think you could have a great safe day in your boat in whittier only if you watch the weather. whittier is nice because it has alot of places to hide in case bad weather hits but don't rely on that.
whittier to desision point has always been the worst in my opinion. The wind can howl in their and their isn't many places to hide. Make sure you have a good vhf radio and having chart maps to stay off the rocks is a must. Yes, thier is alot of submerged stuff their.
Going out this weekend, running a 21' thunderjet. Will head down by crafton island as long as the weather holds out. so far looking good.
Good luck and have fun, it is amazing to troll for fish and see bears and whales at the same time!!!
