Deep Creek
Posted by Bill S. on May 15 2004
Deep Creek is along the Sterling Highway on the way to Homer, south of Anchorage.  Its about a 3-31/2 hour drive, depending.  There are some excellent charters there and the fishing is great.  I try to get there once a year and spend the weekend, drive Friday, camp, fish Saturday, camp that night and come back Sunday.  I've tried to drive back after fishing all day but it gets to be a long day and I won't do it again.  Its often called the suicide run because some people have trouble driving it after fishing all day.  Whittier is a one day trip from Anchorage, drive down in the morning, fish and drive back that evening.
